FAQ

DJ FAQs

Are we insured: Yes, we absolutely are!

Which DJ will I get: We will place you with the best fitting DJ. Each DJ will have a different style. Fortunately for NewSwivel we share all our playlists and have monthly meetings about music selection. We prepare our sets together and talk about how we can improve. Our goal is to make a better show.

What is a Deposit: Our deposit is 40% of the total price of the package. After that you will be charged two equal payments of 30%. A typical deposit is around $360 to $700 but can change based on your package selection.

Refund Policy: Any money deposited to our accounts is non refundable. Most vendors don't offer a refund for events and we suggest that you get insurance to cover any mishaps. We do this because when you reserve the day it occupies our time, preventing us from booking other gigs. Thanks for understanding.

Travel: We do not charge for destination costs up till 90 miles or 1 hour 20 min from 800 Monroe ave NW, Grand Rapids 49503. Anything beyond 90 miles will be charged a minimum of $300 travel cost per 50 miles. If your event is further than 90 miles please add the option for extended miles. This is for hotel accommodations and we find that it makes our events better to facilitate. Upper Peninsula, neighboring state  or any islands will need a custom quote. These charges can change based on availability,  location, and season. A custom quote is required for these and any project can be canceled if distance is a challenge to the project cost. Contact us first to confirm if you feel this is necessary & what those charges might look like.

How Many Hours do I need? Our Ceremony includes 1-2 hours. Whilst our reception is typically 6-7 hours, depending on the package chosen. There is plenty of gear,  setup,  & planning that costs time when building a package. Equipment rentals that are time sensitive.

When does my time start? Ceremony Time: Starts when your guests arrive at the ceremony. e.g. (ceremony is at 3:30pm, guests arrive at 3pm) Music would start at 3pm.

Reception time: Starts when your cocktail party begins and add any hours. your package has. Typically 6-7 hours. e.g. (Party starts at 4pm ends at 10pm) you wouldn't need to add anymore hours. Less hours doesn't equate to less setup and thus does not discount packages.

How many people are coming to my wedding? We prefer to travel with multiple staff unless you ordered a 1 person event. Having two people helps make your night go more smoothly. They will help with setup, take down, and assist with atmosphere. You will be notified of who will be assigned to your event earlier to the event date.
